Josh Allen’s plan to make a drastic change and surpass Patrick Mahomes has been aided by Hailee Steinfeld

Josh Allen is entering the 2025 NFL season with a renewed sense of urgency, not just as the reigning MVP, but as a quarterback determined to break past the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes in the AFC, and he’s turning his life around in that pursuit.

After years of postseason frustration, the 29-year-old has committed to a rigorous personal transformation, adopting significant changes to his training, nutrition, and recovery strategies in a bid to finally win the Super Bowl.

In an interview with GQ, Allen described his revised offseason routine, which includes shedding weight and rethinking his dietary habits as the quarterback looks to drop some extra pounds to increase agility and durability.

“Honestly, right now, it’s probably the best it’s ever been, partly because I wanted to look good for some recent events in my life,” Josh said, referencing his recent marriage to actress Hailee Steinfeld.

In light of that, he has shifted to a cleaner, more focused diet, eliminating dairy and butter, incorporating more protein-rich meals, and embracing fish, particularly sushi, as a new staple to cut a leaner and stronger figure.

“My diet consists of a pretty light breakfast or light lunch,” Allen said. “Sometimes I don’t eat breakfast…

“A lot of protein, whether it’s steak or chicken. I’ve really just dove into fish. “I’m also taking the butter and dairy out, trying to eat very clean.”

Allen looks to avenge Buffalo Bills’ 30 years of heartbreak

Beyond his revamped eating habits, Allen also highlighted a more disciplined approach to recovery. He now incorporates daily infrared sauna sessions and places greater emphasis on sleep hygiene, muscle recovery, and consistent exercise.

These small but consistent lifestyle upgrades reflect a quarterback looking to push his body to a new level, not just maintain the status quo and it comes at a pivotal time for the Bills and their ambitions.

Despite a stellar individual campaign in 2024, Buffalo once again fell short in the playoffs, losing to Mahomes and the Chiefs for the fourth time in five years and now they look to avenge all of that heartbreak.

Allen remains winless against Mahomes in the postseason (0-4), a statistic that looms large heading into 2025 and for the quarterback, the stakes are bigger than individual accolades as the Bills look for a first ever Super Bowl title and a first appearance since 1993.

Back then, they made their fourth straight appearance in the title game, but also suffered their fourth straight loss. Now, more than three decades later, Buffalo fans are still waiting. Allen could finally be the player who delivers destiny to the Highmark Stadium.
