Josh Allen now has the weapon he’s long been looking for on the Bills to finally defeat Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in the playoffs

For the upcoming NFL season, the Buffalo Bills are undoubtedly one of the top favorites in the American Football Conference (AFC), especially because, early on, they were the only team favored in betting lines to win all of their regular season games.

The Bills play in the AFC East, which is considered the weakest division in the conference, including the New England Patriots, New York Jets, and Miami Dolphins. That’s why the path appears clear for the team led by Josh Allen — but it’s in the playoffs where they’re expected to take the next step.

Under Josh Allen, the Bills have become a competitive and exciting team. However, in the playoffs, they’ve failed to break through and reach the Super Bowl. Their main nemesis has been the Kansas City Chiefs, who have beaten them in four straight playoff games, including last season’s AFC Championship Game.

Keon Coleman will enter his second year and must become a key weapon for Josh Allen

One of the big hopes during this offseason was that the Bills’ front office would bring in a top wide receiver for Josh Allen. But that didn’t happen — mainly due to the quarterback’s massive contract, worth $330 million with $250 million guaranteed over six years.

So now Josh Allen needs Keon Coleman to take that next step this season. Last year, he recorded 417 receiving yards and three touchdowns through Week 9 before suffering an injury that sidelined him for five games. When he returned, he wasn’t quite the same. That’s why Allen hopes his receiver becomes a key contributor in 2025.

“The only thing I can say is that he’s taking it 100% seriously. He’s bigger now. He’s faster. He’s stronger. He understands the playbook better,” Allen said in an exclusive interview with Sports Illustrated.

The connection between Allen and Coleman continues to grow, and during minicamp practices, they spent time working together.

“I think we’re talking more. We keep discussing how we can improve, where certain balls will be thrown. But again, he’s a star — and I’ve said that for a long time. That’s why I wanted him,” Allen added.
