Josh Allen may receive good news soon after splitting from Hailee Steinfeld

Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld were married on May 31. Both are enjoying their time off before the Buffalo Bills quarterback must report to training camp on July 23 at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York.

However, when the time comes for them to part ways and Allen must return to training, he could receive some great news.

A deal that will make him happy

James Cook‘s midfield skills have allowed Josh to achieve cleaner and more fluid plays with a faster and more lethal offensive rhythm. The running back has proven himself capable of deciphering defenses and adjusting the game and routes to Allen’s advantage, thus improving the duo.

However, Cook has been the talk of the town recently after entering the final year of his rookie contract, opening the door for free agency next year, and he has not yet received an extension. Despite that, Cook is looking for a contract worth about $15 million a year.

In his favor, the 25-year-old has his performance over the last two seasons: 1,009 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns in the most recent one. In addition, he debuted on the NFL’s 100 Best Players of 2025 list on Monday. Cook ranked 89th and is the first Bills player to appear on the list.

With this sum of money, James would become the highest-paid player at his position. However, the Bills have not confirmed that they will pay him that amount, but they may have reached an agreement, or they may be in the process of doing so.

At the moment, there are no official confirmations, but according to a source who spoke to USA Today: “there’s growing optimism Cook and the Bills can reach a contract agreement by training camp. Both sides are motivated to get a deal done and have been in talks since the team’s mandatory minicamp.“

With the goal of returning to the Super Bowl after a 20-year absence, they may have a chance. They are the favorites in the AFC East division and came very close to achieving this last season (they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game). Will Cook be able to help make this happen as another player on the roster and with a favorable deal?
