Josh Allen isn’t leaving the Bills, but just landed a new job that will earn him more money

Josh Allen has been a key figure for the Buffalo Bills ever since he arrived back in 2018. From the moment he joined, the team returned to the spotlight after spending several years out of contention. Perhaps not since Doug Flutie’s time had the franchise managed to be among the top teams in its conference.

But everything changed once Josh Allen entered the picture. His impact has been so significant that he’s already led the Bills to two AFC Championship Games. Unfortunately for him and his thousands of fans, both ended in defeat at the hands of his nemesis, Patrick Mahomes, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Still, Allen’s personal rise has been meteoric. In the 2024 season, he was named MVP, earning 27 of the 49 votes cast to determine the league’s most outstanding player. With that recognition, he became just the third Bills player to win the honor. The two others, both running backs, were O.J. Simpson in 1973 and Thurman Thomas in 1991.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, all signs point to the Bills remaining among the top contenders in the AFC. With Allen at the helm of the offense, reaching the conference championship game once again will be a clear priority-and a very realistic goal-for the team.

Josh Allen’s new role with the team

On Wednesday, July 16, Josh Allen debuted a new role with New Era Cap, taking on the title of “Director of Billustration.” Allen has been associated with New Era Cap since his rookie year in the NFL, but with this new involvement, he becomes the first ambassador to actively participate in this particular campaign.

The announcement was made through the company’s official LinkedIn page, where a post revealed the new creative duties the Bills quarterback will take on-though his primary focus will, of course, remain on the field.

Quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. Farm kid from Firebaugh who got a shot and ran with it. Buffalo believed in me, and I give everything I’ve got back to this team and this great city. I love this game. I love this team. I’m lucky to wear the jersey,

Allen wrote.

Off the field, I’m the ‘Director of Billustration’ at New Era, which is a fancy way of saying I get to help design some Bills gear and have a little fun with it. That’s me. Football, family, Buffalo and a few sharp-looking caps.

Allen’s main concern remains leading the Buffalo Bills to the Super Bowl. After falling short in recent years, he must now find the formula to finally break through that glass ceiling that has held the team back.

And as each week progresses and the Bills rack up wins atop the AFC, it’ll also be interesting to see what designs Allen unveils in his new creative role with New Era Cap.
