Josh Allen is left in Hailee Steinfeld’s shadow as actress posts ‘nasty’ photo with Michael B. Jordan

Released on April 18, Sinners has quickly become a global phenomenon, pulling in over $90 million in just a few weeks and outpacing genre heavyweights like Nosferatu, The Black Phone, Smile, and Scream 6.

It’s already surpassed Dog Man in North America to become the third highest-grossing film of the year, and industry analysts now predict a U.S. haul somewhere between $230 million and $280 million – staggering numbers for a film that was made for under $100 million.

But what’s really driving the buzz isn’t just the blood and fear. It’s the electric chemistry between Hailee Steinfeld and her co-star, Michael B. Jordan.

Steinfeld and Jordan deliver knockout performances in box office juggernaut

Set in the 19th century American South, Sinners blends period drama with genre horror, giving Coogler a unique canvas to paint on – and giving Steinfeld a powerful role unlike anything she’s done before.

Fans and critics are raving about her performance, describing it as fierce, vulnerable, and magnetic. Her on-screen partnership with Jordan, who plays a mysterious immortal with a tragic past, has lit up social media and fueled Oscar speculation.

Hailee herself hinted at the cultural storm brewing when she shared behind-the-scenes photos from the film earlier this week, including one of her and Jordan drenched in blood and smiling between takes.

“2 weeks at #1… Thank you for being part of this experience,” she captioned it.

The post went viral almost instantly, with fans praising her performance and speculating about what could be next – not just for the film, but for awards season.

There’s already serious Oscar talk surrounding Sinners. Coogler is rumored to be in contention for Best Director, which could place him alongside legendary Black directors such as Spike Lee, Jordan Peele, Barry Jenkins, Steve McQueen, Lee Daniels, and John Singleton.

Variety has already floated the idea, and with the film’s critical and commercial success, a nomination is well within reach.
