Josh Allen has a serious problem with the Buffalo Bills, and it could cause issues against Patrick Mahomes

I dare say that Josh Allen is the most pressured quarterback heading into the next NFL season. The Wyoming product has tried many ways to reach the Super Bowl, but for one reason or another, they haven’t been able to break through in the playoffs – especially when facing Patrick Mahomes.

Last season, the Bills once again fell just short of the Super Bowl, losing in the final minutes to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. That means Josh Allen now has a 0-4 record against Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs. So if they want to reach their goal, it’s very likely they’ll have to face the Chiefs again.

For this season, the Bills are heavy favorites in their division – the AFC East – and are favored in every game according to sportsbooks. It’s almost a given (barring an injury to Josh Allen) that Buffalo will make the playoffs. But that’s not the objective.

Sean McDermott happy with Mitchell Trubisky

After being a first-round pick by the Chicago Bears in 2017, Mitchell Trubisky had some good moments – even getting the Windy City excited during a couple of playoff runs (2018 and 2020). However, his performance faded, and now he’s the backup quarterback for the Buffalo Bills.

It’s clear that Josh Allen is the Bills’ starter, but it’s always important to have a solid backup, and Trubisky fits the profile to be Allen’s support. Bills head coach Sean McDermott acknowledged how important the North Carolina product has been.

“Since I met him, I’ve been very impressed with him and how he’s conducted himself – especially with how he handled the situation last year,” said coach Sean McDermott. “He has skills, and it’ll be great to see him play more this preseason.”

The competition for the QB2 spot in Buffalo is between Mitchell Trubisky and Mike White, both of whom already have experience with the team. However, it seems Trubisky has a clear advantage over White in securing the role.
