Josh Allen gets ultimate consolation prize after painful playoff loss to Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs

The year is starting to look up for Josh Allen. After suffering his fourth consecutive playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs this past January, the Buffalo Bills quarterback received some news that will sweeten the bitterness of once again falling one step short of the Super Bowl.

By now, almost everyone knows the story of Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes. The star signal-caller lost to Mahomes and his Chiefs in the 2025 and 2021 AFC Championships, and in the 2022 and 2024 Divisional Rounds. While some consider him a generational talent, his trophy cabinet looks a bit bare without a championship ring.

But amid the bitter taste of multiple losses to the Chiefs, the Bills star just received some of the best news of his career: the University of Wyoming has just granted him a spot in its Athletics Hall of Fame.

Allen made history with the Cowboys

After spending his rookie year at Reedley College, Allen transferred to Wyoming in 2015, where he rewrote the history books thanks to his talent and the mentorship of head coach Craig Bohl. Allen and Bohl led the Cowboys to the Poinsettia Bowl in 2016 and the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in 2017.

In three years at Wyoming, Allen won 16 games and lost 10, completed 365 passes on 649 attempts, gained 5,066 yards, threw 44 touchdown passes, and was intercepted 21 times. In 2016, the then-senior was named to the All-MWC Second Team.

Thanks to this, the University of Wyoming Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame granted him a place in its Class of 2025, alongside other legends of the institution such as Casey Bramlet (football), Curt Jimerson (men’s basketball), Hugh Lowham (wrestling), Mike Mulvaney (baseball), Lori Kline Waddell (women’s basketball), and John Wendling (football).

Allen could use some help

Despite Josh Allen’s undoubted talent, the Bills’ machinery needs some adjustments to help them take the last step they need to reach the Super Bowl. Rumors suggest that the front office could poach star receiverTee Higginsto complete Allen’s arsenal.

Higgins’ contract with the Cincinnati Bengals expired this season. The team could still apply the franchise tag to him, but the Bills would still have a chance to negotiate for the player. If they do, they would be in a better position than ever to return to the Super Bowl for the first time since the Jim Kelly days.
