Sunday Night Football in Week 1 delivered exactly what NFL fans crave: two superstar quarterbacks trading blows until the final whistle. Lamar Jackson looked nearly flawless for most of the night, carving up the Bills with both his arm and his legs.

But when it mattered most, Josh Allen answered the challenge, rallying Buffalo from 15 points down in the fourth quarter to snatch a dramatic one point victory in Baltimore.

Lamar Jackson shines in defeat

Jackson reminded the league why he’s a former MVP. He finished with a 146.3 passer rating, tossing touchdowns to Zay Flowers and DeAndre Hopkins while adding a rushing score of his own. Every time Buffalo appeared ready to swing momentum, Jackson responded with poise and precision.

He complemented Derrick Henry’s dominant ground game, helping Baltimore pile up 40 points and over 450 total yards. For three quarters, Jackson controlled the tempo and had the Ravens on track for a statement win to open the season.

Josh Allen leads the comeback

If Jackson was electric early, Allen was relentless late. The Bills’ quarterback threw for 323 yards, ran for a touchdown, and kept Buffalo alive with his trademark improvisation. Down 40-25 in the fourth quarter, Allen engineered back to back scoring drives, hitting Keon Coleman for a clutch TD before setting up the final march.

With just over a minute left, he calmly led Buffalo 66 yards to position Matt Prater for the 32-yard game-winner as time expired. Allen’s composure and ability to attack Baltimore’s soft coverage turned the game into a classic quarterback duel that he ultimately won.
