Josh Allen can’t get past Patrick Mahomes – The reigning MVP takes another hit from the Kansas City Chiefs star

Reports from the Buffalo Bills’ training camp say that Josh Allen is looking impressive, shining with every throw. Fans love the quarterback – but that’s nothing new. The Wyoming product is a star, but one big task still remains: leading his team to the Super Bowl.

Throughout his career, Josh Allen has come close. The Bills haven’t reached the Super Bowl since 1993 – it’s been a long time. And in recent years, it has seemed like their moment had arrived. But every January, in the playoffs, they hit a wall – and that wall is Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Patrick Mahomes holds a 4-0 record against Josh Allen in the playoffs. In fact, in the most recent AFC Championship Game, the Chiefs defeated the Bills in a dramatic game, once again leaving Allen just short. But 2025 presents a new opportunity for Buffalo.

Chiefs and Ravens ranked above the Bills in Power Rankings

For 2025, betting lines have the Bills as favorites in every single one of their regular season games. Still, that’s not the ultimate goal – the real objective is to go further and reach the NFL’s biggest stage, the Super Bowl, which in 2026 will be held at the San Francisco 49ers’ stadium.

Ralph Vacchiano of FOX Sports wrote an analysis where he believes that with Josh Allen, the Bills will always be contenders. However, he ranked Buffalo behind the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, and Baltimore Ravens.

“As long as they have MVP Josh Allen at quarterback, they should be in the Top 5,” Vacchiano said. “Honestly, if someone could guarantee they wouldn’t have to face the Chiefs in the playoffs, they might be No. 1 or 2. Allen is that good, though it wouldn’t hurt if the Bills gave him more offensive talent.”

It’s Super Bowl or bust for the Bills this year. That label might seem harsh, but anything short of making it to the NFL’s biggest game will once again leave a bitter taste for Josh Allen and company.
