Jordon Hudson will compensate Bill Belichick with a party parallel to the Hall of Fame, and Tom Brady is invited

Jordon Hudson is planning a private celebration for Bill Belichick on the same day as the Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony, turning a stunning omission into a show of loyalty and support for one of the most successful coaches the NFL has ever seen.

Belichick‘s failure to earn first-ballot induction sent shockwaves through the sports world, and Hudson has decided the moment deserves recognition of its own.

A source told PEOPLE that the event is scheduled for August 8, deliberately coinciding with the Hall of Fame ceremony in Canton.

“Jordon is planning to throw Bill a huge bash on the same day as the Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony,” the insider said.

The guest list reflects Belichick‘s standing across the game. According to the source, “Tom Brady, Jimmy Johnson, Bill Parcells and others who were planning on attending Bill‘s HOF induction ceremony in Canton are invited.” The gathering will also include “many of the outspoken supporters from the wake of Belichick‘s HOF snub.”

The timing is no accident. Those invited were already planning to travel in August, expecting Belichick‘s induction to be a formality. Instead, the focus will shift away from Canton and toward a celebration shaped by the people who know him best.

“The purpose of the bash is to celebrate alongside all of his people,” the source added.

The private event comes as the Hall of Fame prepares to reveal this year’s official inductees next week. Potential selections include Patriots owner Robert Kraft, former 49ers running back Roger Craig and Bengals quarterback Kenny Anderson.

When Belichick was named a finalist in December, he appeared to set aside his long-running tension with Kraft, whose own Hall of Fame candidacy has faced repeated delays following past controversies.

Sports world reacts with disbelief

Reaction to Belichick‘s exclusion has been unusually loud and unified, stretching well beyond the NFL.

His longtime quarterback Tom Brady struggled to understand the decision, telling ESPN, “I don’t understand it. I mean, I was with him every day. If he’s not a first-ballot Hall of Famer, there’s really no coach that should ever be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, which is completely ridiculous because people deserve it.”

“There’s no coach I’d rather play for. If I’m picking one coach to go out there to win a Super Bowl, give me one season, I’m taking Bill Belichick. So that’s enough said.”

Current stars echoed that disbelief. Patrick Mahomes reacted on X by writing, “Insane… don’t even understand how this could be possible.”

Deion Sanders was even more direct, calling the snub “straight out IGNORANT” and describing Belichick as “arguably the BEST NFL COACH TO EVER COACH THE GAME!”
