Jonathan Owens gets himself into trouble after seemingly insinuating he wants to change teams with a simple remark

Jonathan Owens‘ offseason has taken an unexpected turn as NFL fans speculate about his future following a seemingly innocent social media post.

The Chicago Bears safety, who signed a two-year, $4.75 million deal in 2024, may have inadvertently fueled rumors of a potential move with a simple remark that quickly grabbed attention.

Owens’ contract with the Bears was a significant milestone in his career, including a $750,000 signing bonus and $1.5 million in guaranteed money. His debut against the Tennessee Titans showed promise, as he scored a crucial third-quarter touchdown.

However, despite individual flashes of brilliance, the Bears struggled throughout the season, finishing last in the NFC North with a disappointing 5-12 record.

While Bears fans hope for a turnaround next season, Owens has been making the most of his time off, enjoying a honeymoon in South Africa with his wife, Olympic gymnastics legend Simone Biles. But one particular post during their trip has ignited speculation about his NFL future.

“Ngl, I’m lowkey a cowboy. Stay tuned for the videos,” Owens captioned a post before a horseback riding excursion with Biles.

It didn’t take long for fans to connect the term “cowboy” with the Dallas Cowboys, one of the NFL’s most high-profile franchises. Some wondered if Owens was subtly hinting at a potential transfer, while others dismissed it as a simple reference to the horseback riding experience.

Given that Owens is still under contract with the Bears and has only played one season in Chicago, a move to Dallas seems unlikely in the near future. However, with the Bears’ struggles and the possibility of roster shakeups in the offseason, speculation continues to swirl about his long-term future.

While the NFL world debates his cryptic message, Owens appears to be focused on enjoying his time in South Africa.

He and Biles have been sharing glimpses of their honeymoon, immersing themselves in the beauty of nature and encountering some of Africa’s most majestic wildlife.

In one of his posts, Owens shared a breathtaking moment watching a lion in the wild, captioning it, “Real life, Lion King.” Later, the couple witnessed a hippopotamus playing in the water, with Owens excitedly noting, “Then he started to give us a show.”

For now, Owens seems fully invested in his offseason travels, but his recent comment has left many wondering about what lies ahead for his NFL career. Whether his reference to being a “cowboy” was purely innocent or a hint at future ambitions remains to be seen.
