Jon Rahm’s move to LIV Golf immediately made him the face of the Saudi-backed tour. While stars like Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, and Phil Mickelson once held the spotlight, Rahm’s arrival was different.
Not only was he the freshest face in the league, but his reported $300 million contract and his No. 3 world ranking at the end of 2023, following four wins that season, elevated him to the top.
With that kind of payday and an incredible run of form, expectations for Rahm were immense. Fans and critics alike were eager to see how he would handle the unique pressure of performing for an employer willing to invest hundreds of millions in him.
Though some critics pointed to his single Top 10 finish and a missed cut in three major championship appearances in 2024, his results on the LIV circuit tell a much more compelling story.
Consistency and success in LIV Golf
In his 13 starts on the LIV circuit, Rahm displayed remarkable consistency, finishing inside the Top 10 in every event. Despite the smaller 54-player fields, this is a significant achievement. Of those 13 Top 10 finishes, eight were in the Top 5, including two individual wins in the final three events of the season.
Some doubted Rahm when his first LIV win didn’t come until his 10th event, but the constant high finishes leading up to that victory proved his mettle.
After breaking through with his first victory in the UK, Rahm followed it with a runner-up finish at LIV Greenbrier and capped the season with a dominant win in Chicago, earning a massive $18 million prize. His total individual earnings amounted to $16.7 million, making his debut season financially and competitively successful.
In addition to his individual achievements, Rahm’s team, Legion XIII, secured four wins during the season and heads into the team championship in Dallas in second place, trailing only Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC.
While Rahm’s 2024 season might not compare to Scottie Scheffler’s historic run on the PGA Tour, from a LIV perspective, Rahm delivered in every aspect. Two individual titles, four team wins, and zero finishes outside the Top 10 underscored his exceptional debut season, living up to the lofty expectations placed upon him.
