Joe Brady stuns Bills fans with his size that makes even Josh Allen seem small

It’s still a bit of a shock to many that the Buffalo Bills fired head coach Sean McDermott following their playoff exit last season. Almost everyone agreed the roster wasn’t in the proper shape to contend for a Super Bowl, despite Josh Allen putting on the superhero cape on several occasions.

Still, it became increasingly clear that there was a power struggle brewing between McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane. Beane ultimately won out, leading to McDermott being fired, Beane promoted and offensive coordinator Joe Brady promoted to head coach.

This week, Brady and Beane were on the scene in Phoenix, Arizona for the 2026 NFL Annual League Meeting. While there, both were pictured with their respective peers, head coaches and general managers around the league. Brady, in particular, took some people by surprise due to his sheer size.

There’s a bit of an optical illusion going on with Brady, as he’s seated next to Arizona Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur to his right and Atlanta Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski to his left. LaFleur is 5-foot-9 and Stefanski is about 5-foot-10.

Joe Brady is 6-foot-3, making him one of the taller head coaches in the NFL

Brady played wide receiver for William & Mary in the early 2010s, and his listed height is 6-foot-3. His weight was 210 pounds during his playing days, and he seems to have kept in very good shape. Allen still has the height and weight advantage over his head coach.

In fact, Brady still trails some other head coaches when it comes to pure height. Kevin O’Connell of the Minnesota Vikings is 6-foot-5, as is Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell, while Mike Vrabel of the New England Patriots is 6-foot-4. But Brady does present a more imposing figure than McDermott, who was around 5-foot-10.
