In Buffalo, things appear to be moving in the right direction with a new head coach for the 2026 season. Joe Brady was promoted from offensive coordinator to head coach of the Bills.
During his presentation, attention focused on his promises to finally lead the team to a Super Bowl, and on the fact that Allen arrived at the press conference wearing a boot on his left foot and using crutches.
As Brady was sworn in, emotion overwhelmed him, bringing him close to tears. He also remembered former Bills head coach Sean McDermott.

The heartfelt words of Joe Brady to Sean McDermott
Regarding his time alongside McDermott, who was dismissed after the team’s loss in the 2025 postseason, Brady offered gratitude and recognition.
I want to thank and recognize Sean McDermott,” he said. “In 2022, four years ago, Coach McDermott gave me an opportunity of a lifetime. I had an opportunity to come here, coach for the Buffalo Bills, and coach Josh Allen.
I took immense pride in that. Over the past four years, I’ve learned a tremendous amount of things from Coach McDermott. How to lead. Resilience. Standards…. I love Coach McDermott and I’m going to do everything I can to continue to build upon the things he laid and the foundation he laid.
Joe Brady became emotional when talking about his wife
The emotion intensified for the new Bills head coach when he spoke about his wife and recalled everything she has done to support him.
This job demands sacrifice, right? I’m calling you on the way to a game while you’re going into labor,” he bemoaned. “I find out after the game, you’ve given birth by yourself. This game takes away time, energy, and presence from you.
And you’ve carried the weight that comes with this job so that I can pursue my calling,” Brady added. “Your strength, your belief and your steadiness is the foundation that allows me to do what I do. You’ve believed in me long before this moment has arrived. I’m nothing without you and I will never get anywhere in life without you.
