Jimmy Butler reveals a big fear and defines as a “facade” his nickname “Playoff Jimmy”

While Stephen Curry and Draymond Green have won four titles, Jimmy Butler is in search of his first championship.

And the Golden State Warriors present is encouraging, as they are up 2-1 against the Houston Rockets in the first round of the 2025 playoffs. Despite this, in the second game, Butler suffered a hard hit that resulted in a bruised pelvis and a deep gluteal muscle injury. It is still unknown if he will participate in the fourth game.

His numbers with the Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat and Warriors have earned him the nickname “Playoff Jimmy”. However, that doesn’t quite cut it for Butler and he made that known in his recent dialogue with ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk: “Man, I think it’s a facade that people have created over the years,” Butler said. “I know what I’m capable of. I can tell you that. And I love it because everybody thinks I just take it up a notch, and I don’t really just take it up a notch. I just might have the ball a little bit more. I might be a tad more aggressive, looking to score.”

[But] you’re talking about somebody that’s going to do anything to win. That’s some right there. The person that they deemed as “Playoff Jimmy,” he’ll die out there. He really will. It’s scary

Butler’s numbers

He has career averages of 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists in the regular season.

In the postseason, Butler averaged 21.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists.

Butler has been to the NBA Finals twice with the Heat, but lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020 and the Denver Nuggets in 2023.

In his debut year with Golden State, the forward has averaged 17.5 points, 5.4 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game, and his chemistry with Steph is undeniable.

In fact, with Curry averaging 24.5 points, 6 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game, they led the team together and ranked seventh in the Western Conference with 48 wins.
