The New York Jets have solidified their commitment with wide receiver Garrett WIlson by agreeing to a four-year, $130 million contract extencion, including $90 million guaranteed, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. At an average of $32.5 million per season, this deal marks a milestone in NFL history, the first time a receiver commands over $31 million annually after just three seasons. Wilson is now one of the league’s highest paid wide receivers, and things are just getting started for him in the Big Apple.

Garrett Wilson, a potential All-Pro

Wilson’s achievements over his first three NFL seasons speak volumes. Since being drafted 10th overall by the Jets in 2022, he has amassed 279 receptions, 3,249 receiving yards, and 14 touchdowns, including three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. In 2024, Wilson set career higs, with 101 receptions, 1,104 yards, and seven touchdowns.

This impressive consistency positions him among elite peers, making him the first young receiver to earn this level of contract after only three seasons in the league. To put a better perspective, he joins players like Ja’marr Chase and Justin Jefferson in elite receiving circles.

Wilson and the Jets look to the future

This extension sends a strong message from Jets management: the franchise believes in building around its foundational talent. With Wilson officially under contract through 2030, the team secures one of its most productive offensive assets. This move follows their trend of investing in homegrown players, as they’ve also begun negotiations with standout cornerback Sauce Gardner.

On the field, Wilson’s reliability -he’s appeared in all 51 possible games since 2022- and his leadership in a turbulent quarterback cornerstone of the offense. The extension gives now lets the Jets have a productive and talented player at one of the most important positions in the league.
