Jerry Jones makes intentions clear as anxiety grows for the Dallas Cowboys

Concerns are rising in Dallas after the Cowboys‘ joint practices with the Los Angeles Rams failed to inspire much confidence. The offense, led by coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, struggled to find rhythm against Sean McVay‘s squad, and fans are already sounding alarms about the team’s prospects for the upcoming NFL season.

But if you listen to the voices inside the Cowboys’ camp, there is no panic-at least not yet. Schottenheimer himself downplayed the lackluster performance, reminding reporters that these are only practices, and that he has no intention of revealing the team’s full playbook in August. There’s little reason to read too deeply into the results, he argued, even as outside speculation grows.

Yet the calls for change are loud. Some believe the Cowboys should look to the trade market, particularly at running back, where depth and explosiveness remain question marks.

The consensus among anxious fans is clear: Dallas needs a boost before it faces the Philadelphia Eagles to open the regular season.

Jerry Jones dismisses trade talk, backs current roster

Despite the growing concern, team owner Jerry Jones delivered a firm response when asked about possible additions. For now, at least, Jones is not interested in making any panic moves.

“Players that I’m looking at for the Dallas Cowboys, if we can continue improvement, which is what these practices are supposed to do, if they can avoid injury, then we should be able to play and open up against Philadelphia with this group that’s out here,” Jones said.

That statement says it all. Jones is sticking with his players and, for the moment, is not even entertaining the idea of shaking up the roster. It is a familiar refrain-“we like our guys”-and one that has defined his leadership in previous seasons. There is, he insists, enough talent in Oxnard to start the campaign strong.

Still, the sense of unease won’t easily be put to rest. The Cowboys‘ uneven performance in these early sessions has only fueled debate among fans and analysts, some of whom believe Dallas must act quickly if it hopes to compete at the highest level this season.

As things stand, no major moves are expected before the Cowboys play a few more preseason games. Those matchups will likely be a bigger test of where the team stands-and may yet influence Jones‘ thinking.

For now, though, Dallas will ride with the group it has. Whether that faith pays off will become clear soon enough, as the countdown to opening night against the Eagles continues.
