Jerry Jones could make an unexpected move for Dak Prescott and Dallas Cowboys fans in the 2025 NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys are ready to make a move that could determine the direction of the franchise in the coming years-that’s how significant the decision is when it comes to picking in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.

While many are talking about the need to bolster other positions, there are others who predict that Jerry Jones‘ team will go after an offensive weapon. But what’s most surprising is that now, neither Ashton Jeanty nor Tetairoa McMillan are the names being mentioned.

The Other Option for the Dallas Cowboys

With just over two weeks until it’s time to use their pick, several analysts suggest that the Cowboys need to find a star wide receiver to pair with CeeDee Lamb and serve as another target for Dak Prescott. In various recent mock drafts, the team is seen selecting a wide receiver in the first round, with Tetairoa McMillan standing out as a primary option, though names like Matthew Golden and Luther Burden III are also floated as alternatives if the Arizona star is no longer available.

At least that’s the take from Sports Illustrated analyst Albert Breer, who recently shared some observations about the NFL, noting that ‘it wouldn’t surprise him’ to see Matthew Golden from the Texas Longhorns go first, making him the first wide receiver not named Hunter to be selected.

‘I don’t like saying a player is ‘rising’ or ‘falling’ in draft rankings because it doesn’t really work that way. That said, when I did my simulation this week, I had Tetairoa McMillan from Arizona being picked in the 20s. And again, I wouldn’t be surprised if Matthew Golden from Texas is the first receiver (not named Hunter) to be taken, leaving McMillan available when playoff teams are on the clock,’ Breer wrote.

Could the Cowboys Pick Golden Over McMillan?

The stats back McMillan from his college football career, but Golden made waves by posting an impressive 4.29 time in the receiver drills at the NFL Combine, and he further boosted his stock during the College Football Playoffs. If the Dallas Cowboys select Golden, it would certainly be a shock, but there’s no doubt that many fans would be thrilled to see Dak Prescott surrounded by strong weapons heading into a new season.
