The 2026 NFL Draft is nearing, and the picture is becoming a bit clearer at the top of the first round. Everyone knows the Las Vegas Raiders are picking Fernando Mendoza first overall, and Arvell Reese is turning into a heavy favorite for the New York Jets with pick No. 2.
The third pick is where things get interesting. Many mock drafts have the Arizona Cardinals selecting offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa at No. 3, but with the franchise heading into a full rebuild, the idea of another team trading up to that spot is becoming a real possibility. Could the Dallas Cowboys be that team?
Initially, it seemed like moving up to No. 3 would be to jump the Tennessee Titans for running back Jeremiyah Love, who is apparently beloved by the Nashville-based franchise. But if the Cowboys were to make that massive move up from the 12th overall pick, it would be for an EDGE pass-rusher.

In Bruce Feldman of The Athletic’s most recent mock draft, the pass-rusher in question would be Texas Tech’s David Bailey. What makes the prediction interesting is that Feldman’s mock draft is based on information he’s gotten from college and NFL sources, so it isn’t just a shot in the dark.
Trading up that many spot would require a hefty draft pick haul being sent to Arizona. The Cowboys aren’t really in position to give up crucial draft picks, but owner Jerry Jones is never shy about making a splash.
Bringing in Bailey would alleviate the pain left by trading away Micah Parsons and striking out on Maxx Crosby. The team is sorely needing pass-rush help, and Bailey would surely provide that. But at what cost?
