Jerry Jones corners star Micah Parsons with final contract options after trade request

Tension has erupted at the Dallas Cowboys’ training camp. Team owner Jerry Jones has made it clear that he has no intention of negotiating with Micah Parsons, who recently requested a trade. “I noticed it, but there are 200 players here,” Jones said coldly when asked about his defensive star.

Parsons, a three-time Pro Bowler, has stopped participating in practices, citing back soreness. However, behind the physical discomfort lies a deeper emotional fracture with the front office. His farewell message on X – “Thank you Dallas ” – reads more like a goodbye than a bargaining tactic.

Jerry Jones stands firm on his decision

Insider Mike Florio (NBC) reported that the Cowboys are only willing to offer Parsons the deal they believe was agreed upon in March – nothing more. “If he doesn’t like it, he can play for 24 (million),” Florio stated.

That leaves Parsons with two realistic options: accept the current contract or find a new destination via trade.

Despite Dallas having $32.2 million in available cap space – the 11th most in the league – Jones doesn’t appear interested in improving the offer for his best defender. “Our future is a challenge, and I’m made for it, and he’s made for it,” he said, reflecting a total unwillingness to bend.

Micah Parsons has already made up his mind

“I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys,”Parsons reportedly said before posting his farewell message – a statement many believe signals his imminent exit.

Even NBA star Trae Youngcame to his defense: “When someone takes less early to stay somewhere… the price only goes up now.”

Throughout the summer, several teams have been monitoring the situation. Among them are the reigning NFL champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, who replied directly to his post: “We’re on the way @MicahhParsons11.” Other teams reportedly in the mix include the Bears, Patriots, Commanders, Lions, and Bills.

A Parsons trade could shake the NFL

Parsons’ departure wouldn’t just impact the Cowboys – it would reshape the entire defensive landscape of the NFL. His presence is so dominant that any franchise acquiring him would instantly become a contender.

For now, Jones refuses to budge. But as the season opener draws closer, decisions are becoming more urgent. Even quarterback Dak Prescott weighed in: “This is frustrating for everyone involved.”

If Dallas doesn’t find a solution soon, America’s Team could lose its best defensive player in years.
