Jerry Jones backs Ravens for scrapping Maxx Crosby trade

The Dallas Cowboys were one of the teams most interested in a possible NFL trade for Maxx Crosby, until the Baltimore Ravens surprisingly stepped in and agreed to acquire the Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher.

However, the deal was unexpectedly canceled after Crosby failed his physical examination, prompting his quick return to Las Vegas.

What Jerry Jones said about the failed Maxx Crosby signing

Although the Ravens have faced heavy criticism for backing out of the trade, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones sees no issue with what happened.

“For me, there’s no hidden item there,” Jones said for Las Vegas Review-Journal.

“You have to pass a physical. You have to. And we’ve never completed an agreement until the player passes a physical. That implies that your doctors, your trainers and everybody involved gets to take a look at him. That goes with the territory,” continued the 83-year-old Jones.

“We would have basically had the same conditions with the physical. As you know, we were in on making an offer for him. So he would have come to Dallas, and we’ll all just guess what would have happened.”

It is also worth noting that the Cowboys were indirectly involved in Baltimore’s final decision. After the trade collapsed, it was revealed that the team’s surgeon, Dr. Daniel Cooper, was one of the specialists consulted by the Ravens.

Although Dallas made several offers for Crosby, once it became clear that Baltimore would not proceed with the deal, the Cowboys changed course and finalized a trade for Green Bay Packers linebacker Rashan Gary.
