After a season that was nothing short of catastrophic, Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has broken his silence to acknowledge his team’s failure in 2025.

With a probability of reaching the postseason of just 0.6%, the team faces the harsh reality of missing the playoffs for the second year in a row, which has generated a wave of criticism from fans and public opinion, and Jones decided to face the music.

Jerry Jones criticizes himself amid Cowboys crisis

In a recent and candid appearance on radio show 105.3 The Fan, Jones did not look for external excuses. When asked who should be held accountable for the poor results, the magnate was blunt:

“I know exactly who is ultimately responsible. I’ve always known because I’ve always had that responsibility. I take it very seriously.”

Jones admitted that decisions made in the offices have left the team in a vulnerable position, especially when it comes to financial management. “I have to live with it when we run out of money under the salary cap and can’t sign the player we need,” he confessed, evidencing that the lack of financial flexibility has been an insurmountable burden this year.

A complicated outlook for the Cowboys

Jones was clear and commented that despite the bad moment the team will seek to give everything. With three games remaining on the schedule, the owner insists they will play to win, although the future of defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus and other staff members hangs in the balance.

Jones cataloged everything that is happening as “disappointing”, especially for the fans. “We certainly didn’t think we’d be in this situation with three games to go, and to have to be in such an unfavorable position as we are. It’s very disappointing. Really, obviously, I’m very disappointed for our fans. I’m disappointed for these players.”
