From undrafted underdog to global idol, Jeremy Lin’s journey has captivated fans worldwide. Known for igniting the “Linsanity” phenomenon in New York and ultimately becoming the first Asian American NBA champion, Lin announced his retirement via an emotional Instagram post. Reflecting on his career’s highs and challenges, he said goodbye to the sport with gratitude for having exceeded every expectation.

Linsanity launched a legacy

Lin’s basketball story began with modest beginnings: undrafted in 2010, he earned a spot with the Golden State Warriors, only to later spring into worldwide fame with the Knicks in 2012. He averaged nearly 24 points and 9 assists over a 12 games run that sparked the “Linsanity” craze.

Over nine NBA seasons with eight teams, he averaged 11.6 points, 4.3 assists, and secured a championship ring with the Toronto Raptors in 2019. Lin’s emotional announcement underscores a career rich with grit, inspiration, and barrier shattering moments.

What’s next for Jeremy Lin?

Retirement doesn’t mean Lin is stepping away from the game. He recently served as an honoray coach at the NBA All-Star Rising Stars event and continues to mentor through his JLIN NextGen Basketball Camp, designed to empower elite Asian American athletes.
