Jazz Chisholm Jr. clarifies his future with the Yankees: “I don’t want to leave New York”

Jazz Chisholm Jr. arrived at the Yankees with the pressure of living up to the expectations of one of the most demanding franchises in MLB.

However, the Bahamian infielder has not only delivered, but has become one of the most consistent pieces of the New York offense. That is why he makes it clear that his future plans are to continue to shine in the Bronx.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. and his immediate impact on the Yankees

Since his arrival in the second half of the 2024 season, Jazz Chisholm Jr. has shown that his aggressive style at the plate and speed on the bases fit perfectly with the needs and aspirations of the Yankees.

In just 168 games, the Bahamian has a .251 average, 41 home runs and 100 RBIs, numbers that make him one of the team’s offensive leaders.

In 2025, he joined a select group of the franchise by becoming only the third player in Yankees history to record a 30-homer, 30-stolen base season

Jazz Chisholm talks about his future

Jazz Chisholm was blunt in declaring his future intentions, stressing his intentions to stay in ‘the Big Apple’:

“I don’t want to leave New York. If you’ve ever played here, you’d never want to leave. It just depends on whether they want me. That’s the difference. Do they want a 40-40 player? You tell me“, he told The Athletic.

With these words, the infielder not only reaffirmed his commitment to the team, but also gave a nod to the management about his desire to become a long-term piece.

The Yankees’ front office challenge

General manager Brian Cashman faces crucial months. While figures such as Cody Bellinger may test free agency at the end of this season, Chisholm still has one more year of salary arbitration before reaching the open market.

Retaining both hitters would mean a significant financial effort, although the franchise is used to making high-caliber decisions in search of success.

In a context where the Yankees are looking to maintain one of the most powerful offenses in the league, Chisholm not only brings numbers, but also a special connection with the fans. His energy, flashy style of play and statements have brought him even closer to the hearts of fans in the Bronx.

At just 27 years of age, the Bahamian is entering the prime of his career, and both he and the franchise know that the combination could be explosive in the search for a new title.
