Jaylen Brown is one of the main reasons why the Boston Celtics won the NBA championship in 2024, displaying basketball IQ and talent that makes him one of the best ballers in the league.
The 28-year-old earned his fourth NBA All-Star selection last January, securing a reserve spot for the Eastern Conference. He was among seven East reserves voted by NBA coaches, joining Milwaukee’s Damian Lillard, Cleveland’s Darius Garland and Evan Mobley, Detroit’s Cade Cunningham, Miami’s Tyler Herro, and Indiana’s Pascal Siakam.
It was his third consecutive All-Star appearance, complementing teammate Jayson Tatum, who was an Eastern Conference starter for the fifth straight year. With Brown and Tatum, the Celtics are the team to beat not only in their conference but in the whole NBA.
Brown gets embarrassed in front of a packed arena
Jaylen Brown participated in a trivia game that was shown before a Boston Celtics game at TD Garden. The premise was simple: guess the famous person who’s shown in the picture. Sounds simple, but for Brown it was a headache.
The guard got the first person right – Mariah Carey – but then he went to have some struggles. He couldn’t get Sabrina Carpenter – currently one of the most popular singers in the world – and he also couldn’t identify country singer Luke Combs and pop sensation Chappell Roan.
Not everything was bad for Brown, though. He did identify divas Whitney Houston and Celine Dion, as well as music icons Prince, Jimmy Hendrix, and Paul McCartney, as well as Puerto Rican powerhouse Bad Bunny.
Brown is a shining star for the Celtics
In his ninth NBA season, Brown is averaging 23.2 points, 6 rebounds, and a career-best 4.8 assists. He leads the league in time spent defending 20+ point-per-game ball handlers (per Sportradar) while matching his career-high 1.2 steals per game.
His 21.2% assist rate and 1.84 assist-to-turnover ratio are personal bests, and he ranks fourth leaguewide with 1.16 points per possession on post-ups. Jaylen is without a doubt a key piece for the Celtics and if Boston wants to repeat in 2025, he will have to step up once again.
A former California standout, Brown was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and an All-Pac-12 First Team selection in his lone season with the Golden Bears in 2015-16. His pursue for greatness has put him in a position to be called one of the NBA All-Stars.
