Jaxson Dart surprises the Giants with a clone as he meets the team that drafted him before Shedeur Sanders

The New York Giants shocked a lot of fans and NFL anaylsts when they selected former Ole Miss Rebels standout Jaxson Dart with the No. 25 pick after a trade with the Houston Texans.

A three-year starter at Ole Miss after transferring from USC, Dart set the Rebels‘ records for passing yards in a career with 10,617, crushing past former Giants two-time Super Bowl-winner Eli Manning‘s mark (10,119). Now he can chase Manning‘s records in New York, including beating legendary quarterback Tom Brady. twice. Ok, that’s not possible.

In 2024, the signal-caller earned a school record 4,279 yards passing, completing a career-high 69.3% of his tosses with 29 touchdowns to six interceptions, earning first-team All-SEC honors. Ole Miss played in the Gator Bowl against Duke, winning the game 52-20.

Jaxson Dart surprises the Giants with a clone

Jaxson Dart went to the New York Giants facilities for the first time since getting drafted by the team, and he had a surprise for The Big Apple squad: he brought a clone to the venue. It’s none other than Diesel Dart, Jaxsons’ younger brother who looks identical.

Diesel is a wide receiver out of Corner Canyon in Utah. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect, received an offer from Ole Miss on late January, and he also received an offer from San Diego State. Whatever school he ends up in, he would sure fire up the secondary.

In 2024, Diesel was credited with 44 total tackles and an interception, while also shining on offense with 23 receptions for 351 yards and a touchdown, to help Corner Canyon to the Utah 6A state championship crown. The football talent runs through the Dart family, without a doubt.

What the Giants get with Jaxson Dart at quarterback

According to the scouting report, Jaxson Dart doesn’t have a massive arm, but it’s adequate, and he’s not afraid to stretch the field, leading college football in yards per attempt (10.8) and completions of 10-plus yards (74) in 2024. He displayed solid touch on his throws, not overpowering a wideout. He also can sling it from multiple arm angles.

“The 6-foot-2 quarterback also displays athleticism with his feet. A competitive runner, Dart probably took more big shots than coaches prefer — something he’ll have to work on in the NFL. He’s fearless throwing on the move, including pushing the ball downfield, but at times, he looks at the rush instead of keeping his eyes up, particularly when the pocket is crumbling.” the report states.

Jaxson is also a good athlete with a talented upside, but the question will be how fast he is pushed into action. Playing in a passer-friendly offense in which he didn’t have to get through many reads, the quarterback enters the NFL with questions about how quickly he can get through a full progression and how well he anticipates throws.
