Jaxson Dart could be one-and-done with the New York Giants; the reason: the firing of head coach Brian Daboll

It comes as no surprise that the New York Giants lost to the Minnesota Vikings and suffered their ninth consecutive defeat. The reality is that they are one of the worst teams in the NFL, and since Brian Daboll was fired after Week 10, they have not won a single game. However, what was seen against the Vikings-especially on offense-was simply dreadful.

If there is one reason to buy a ticket or turn on the television to watch the Giants, it is to see Jaxson Dart, the Ole Miss rookie who has led the offense since Week 4 and made an immediate impact. There is no doubt that Dart has a winning mentality and has competed against teams like the Denver Broncos and the Chicago Bears, leaders of the AFC and NFC, respectively.

Even so, Jaxson Dart is coming off the worst performance of his short career, and his face reflected sadness and desperation, clear signs that the Giants lack direction-something similar to what Daniel Jones experienced in the past. Against the Vikings, believe it or not, Dart threw for just 33 yards and was intercepted.

Brian Daboll’s firing has hurt Jaxson Dart

Although results were not coming under Brian Daboll, there was one very positive aspect: the development of Jaxson Dart, who looked sensational under the former Giants head coach. Up until their final game together in Week 10 against the Chicago Bears, Dart had recorded 17 total touchdowns in seven games. Since then, the Giants’ 2025 first-round pick has not looked anywhere near the same.

In that game against the Bears, Jaxson Dart suffered a serious concussion and missed a couple of games. He returned in Week 13 against the New England Patriots but has not been the same since. In three games under Mike Kafka, Dart has managed just three touchdowns, and against the Vikings he was allowed to throw the ball only 13 times.

Dan Duggan, senior Giants writer, published an article explaining that Jaxson Dart has not been the same without Brian Daboll and that warning signs are starting to appear: “When taking a big-picture view of Dart’s season, it’s impossible to ignore that his performance has declined in his three games since Brian Daboll was fired and replaced by Kafka,” the journalist wrote.

Fans remain excited about Jaxson Dart, but rumors have intensified as the Giants currently hold the first overall pick in the Draft and are within reach of Fernando Mendoza, the reigning Heisman winner. Even so, it seems unlikely that the Giants will move on from Dart, and the organization’s future head coach will aim to maximize the potential of New York’s current quarterback.
