Jason Kelce tells Travis the only reason he’d unretire – it’s classic Eagles, and Travis has his back

Former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce was invited to the NFL Owners Meeting to discuss the ‘tush push’ before the vote to ban the play. During a new episode of his New Heights podcast with his brother Travis, Jason didn’t hesitate to give his opinion on the Tush Push – a play that has been mastered by the Eagles in recent seasons.

The controversial short-yardage tactic has teams split over whether to ban the move. In the last NFL meeting, tensions rose when Buffalo Bills co-owner Terry Pegula reportedly cited Kelce’s retirement as evidence of the play’s risk to player safety.

Kelce had already talked about the play in an episode posted a couple of weeks ago. “I get why some people think that it’s potentially unsafe,” Kelce admitted. “I think optically it looks unsafe. For me personally, I never felt like there’s that much more of a risk of injuring somebody on the play, and I don’t think there’s any statistics to back that up.”

Tush Push could bring Jason out of retirement

But in the latest episode of New Heights, he made it totally clear. “I don’t care whether it gets banned or not,” Jason said. “They [the Eagles] are still gonna run quarterback sneak at a very high percentage.”

Afterward, Kelce got honest about a potential NFL comeback. “I‘ll come out of retirement today if you tell me all I gotta do is run 80 ‘Tush Pushes’. I’ll do that gladly,” admitted the Super Bowl LII champion. “It’ll be the easiest job in the world – it’ll be like 80-some snaps.”

Travis couldn’t stay quiet during Jason’s confessions and backed him up. “I can’t wait to see a picture of you with a poster that says ‘Pro Tush Push’. Keep the push. Push my tush, push my tush,” Travis said, laughing.
