Jason Kelce, Eagles legend, made an extensive disclaimer and made clear his opinion about the “Tush Push”

In the last game that the Philadelphia Eagles played against the Kansas City Chiefs during Week 2 at Arrowhead Stadium, they managed to beat the home team 17-20.

However, the victory was overshadowed by the controversy generated by their famous “tush push” play, accused of injustice by some NFL fans and analysts. In response to this, the historic former Eagles center, Jason Kelce, spoke out.

Kelce on “Tush Push”

The 37-year-old former player has become an NFL star and legend. In his countless sporting exploits with Philadelphia Eagles, his two Super Bowl appearances and his triumph in the LII edition after defeating the New England Patriots 41-33 stand out.

The game was not only charged with emotion as a rematch of this year’s Super Bowl final, where Kansas City lost 40-22, but it was also the Chiefs’ second loss of the season.

In addition, the Eagles’ famous and controversial “Tush Push” play was the talk of the town. This is a short yardage play in which the QB (in this case, Jalen Hurts) is pushed forward by his teammates in an attempt to gain additional yards.

While technically the play complies with NFL rules and is legal, its application has come under scrutiny for the possibility of gaining an unfair advantage.

The one who didn’t take too kindly to this claim was Jason, who used his official X account to make a disclaimer:

“I love that the problem everyone has with the tush push this week, has absolutely nothing to do with the actually pushing portion. Like banning the tush push doesn’t even stop what they have an issue with from the play this last week. The Eagles still could have done exactly what they did last week with it being a regular QB sneak,” the former center began.

He further stated that the only way to end the problem is for the referees to be “stricter with players lining up in the neutral zone and false starts.” However, he reaffirmed his stance in favor of this move, closing his post by saying, “getting rid of the tush push will not stop the issue everyone is riled up about.”

The truth is that this play has been beneficial to Eagles on numerous occasions, especially in the last two years.

Beyond the controversy, the Philadelphia Eagles are preparing to face the Los Angeles Rams next Sunday, September 21 at Lincoln Financial Field.
