Jalen Hurts surprised everyone by revealing why he refuses to wear his Super Bowl ring as he targets back to back titles

Last season, the Philadelphia Eagles etched their name in history with a commanding 40-22 victory in Super Bowl LIX, securing their second championship in franchise lore. Both titles have come in the last eight years, though a loss to the Chiefs in 2022 stings in the memory. Since Nick Sirianni took the helm in 2021 and Jalen Hurts stepped up as starter, the Eagles have racked up the second-most wins in the NFL with 48, trailing only the Chiefs’ 52. The best part? This is a youthful squad brimming with talent on both sides of the ball, boasting the third-youngest roster league-wide and the youngest defense.

With training camps underway and the season just over a month away, the focus is sharp-copying the Chiefs’ dynasty blueprint with this young core is the goal. For Hurts and the team, it’s a clean slate; the past is history, and the mission is all about what’s next.

Hurts Spills the Beans on Ditching His Super Bowl Ring

After kicking off training camp with Wednesday’s practice, Jalen Hurts sat down with the media and dropped a bombshell about why he’s skipping his Super Bowl LIX ring. That game was a career high, where he torched the Chiefs for 293 total yards and 3 touchdowns, clinching MVP honors in a blowout win. But Hurts is all about looking ahead. “I’ve moved on to the new year,” he told reporters, keeping it simple.

With two Super Bowl appearances in five seasons-joining an elite group including Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes-he’s proven his worth, boasting a 45-17 record over four years as starter, with 79 touchdown passes and 52 rushing scores since 2021. Yet, he’s not one to linger on glory. At the team’s ring ceremony, he skipped the bling, signaling a laser focus on fresh goals with new Offensive Coordinator Kevin Patullo, leaving last year’s triumph in the rearview mirror.

A Challenging Start Sets the Stage for NFC Repeat

Last season, the Eagles stumbled to a 2-2 start before winning 10 games in a row, and this year could play out similarly. They will open the season at home on Thursday, September 4, with the NFL Kickoff game against their bitter rivals, the Cowboys. They will then travel to Kansas City for a Super Bowl rematch against the Chiefs. Then, they host the Rams, whom they narrowly defeated in last year’s divisional round despite their struggles. They will finish the month on the road against the Buccaneers, the team that eliminated them in the 2023 playoffs.

With their impressive roster, it’s hard to bet against the Eagles reclaiming the NFC East. This division hasn’t had a repeat champion since the Eagles’ four-peat from 2001 to 2004 under Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb. If Hurts can navigate this gauntlet, back-to-back titles might be within reach.
