Michael Jordan needs no introduction. Wherever he goes, all eyes are inevitably drawn to him. The basketball legend left an indelible mark on the NBA hardwood with the Chicago Bulls, transforming a once-losing franchise into a dynasty that dominated the 1990s. Even today, Jordan remains a global icon and an endless source of inspiration for athletes, entrepreneurs, and countless sports fans around the world.

One individual particularly captivated by Jordan’s aura is Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is not only a fan of the basketball legend but also an athlete sponsored by the Jordan Brand.

Jalen Hurts draws strength from Jordan

At the 2025 NFL season opener between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, there was a very special guest in the stands: none other than the NBA’s GOAT, Michael Jordan.

Jordan attended the game as a guest of Hurts, a rare and meaningful gesture for the Eagles’ star signal-caller. Adding to the moment, Hurts took the field wearing customized Jordan Brand cleats, proudly representing the iconic logo of the man who revolutionized basketball and sports marketing.

After scoring his first touchdown of the night, Hurts celebrated by mimicking one of Jordan’s most memorable on-court gestures – the famous shoulder shrug Jordan displayed after an unbelievable scoring run during his playing days. The tribute did not go unnoticed by fans or cameras.

In the postgame press conference, Hurts reflected on what it meant to have Jordan in attendance and to share such a symbolic moment with someone he deeply admires.

Yeah, you have a special guest, a special friend in attendance,” Hurts said. “There’s only one thing you can do, and that’s win. So I have a lot of love for him.

Hurts’ words revealed just how much Jordan’s presence fueled his performance on opening night.

A bittersweet week for Michael Jordan

This game marked Jordan’s second football appearance within a week. His first came on Monday when he attended the highly anticipated debut of legendary coach Bill Belichick with North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Unfortunately for Jordan and Tar Heels fans, that outing was a disaster. Everything that could go wrong did, as TCU steamrolled North Carolina with a lopsided 48-14 victory. The Tar Heels’ defense struggled mightily to contain their opponent, and the scoreboard reflected their lack of answers. Belichick, known for his strategic brilliance, appeared visibly frustrated and unable to stop the onslaught in his first college game at the helm.

Jordan’s second football experience of the week brought a different outcome, though it nearly unraveled again. The Eagles managed to control most of the game, capitalizing on key mistakes made by Dallas wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Those miscues prevented the Cowboys from seizing the win in this heated rivalry matchup.

Philadelphia ultimately held on for a hard-fought 24-20 victory, a result that wasn’t secured until the very final moments. The ejection of Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter added late drama, giving Dallas a spark of hope when earlier they had little chance.

For Jordan, it was a thrilling finish and a reminder of why his presence continues to inspire greatness across all sports.
