Jalen Hurts ditches the bling: Why his Super Bowl 59 ring is staying off

Jalen Hurts isn’t one to bask in the spotlight for long. Just months after leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a dominant Super Bowl 59 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, the MVP-winning quarterback has already set his sights firmly on the road ahead.

During the Eagles’ recent championship ring ceremony, Hurts drew attention-not for what he wore, but for what he didn’t.

In photos shared from the event, the quarterback was noticeably missing one important accessory: his Super Bowl ring.

Fans were quick to speculate online, wondering whether it was a simple oversight or something more. But when asked about it, Hurts gave a response that echoed the approach of a famously focused figure from another dynasty.

“We’ve celebrated. Now it’s time to go to work,” Hurts told reporters.

It was a no-nonsense reply that brought to mind New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick’s well-known mantra: “No Days Off.”

Hurts’ stoic attitude is becoming part of his identity. At just 25, he has already led Philadelphia to the NFL’s summit, putting together a memorable Super Bowl performance: 221 passing yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and an additional 72 yards and a score on the ground. His dual-threat ability overwhelmed the Chiefs’ defense and earned him MVP honors on the biggest stage.

The first test of the new campaign comes fast and fierce. On September 4, the Eagles will open the 2025 NFL season at home in a primetime showdown against NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys.

Yet even with all the accolades, Hurts doesn’t appear interested in dwelling on the moment. While some players take time to soak up their achievements, Hurts is approaching the offseason with laser focus.

His decision to keep the ring off his finger during team photos wasn’t a statement of defiance. It was, rather, a clear signal: the Eagles’ work isn’t finished. For Hurts, the 2024 season is in the rearview. The mission now is repeating the success-and doing it better.

This attitude isn’t surprising to those within the Eagles’ building. Since joining the team as a second-round pick, Hurts has been described by teammates and coaches alike as obsessed with improvement, committed to preparation, and unshaken by the noise.
