Jalen Green fined by NBA following postgame moment with Suns

The Phoenix Suns are finally starting to look like a team on the rise. After a slow and uneven start to the season, Phoenix arrived in Washington carrying real momentum, having won three straight games and beginning to steady itself in a crowded Western Conference race.

That confidence showed on the court. Against the Washington Wizards, the Suns played a controlled, disciplined game, staying patient through a competitive first three quarters before taking command late. A strong fourth-quarter push lifted Phoenix to a 115-101 victory, extending its winning streak to four games and reinforcing the sense that things are finally clicking.

But as the Suns walked off the floor, the night took an unexpected turn. What should have been a routine postgame scene instead became a talking point across the league, shifting attention away from the standings and toward the NBA’s disciplinary process.

Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green has been fined $25,000 for using profanity when interrupting a teammate’s live television interview

NBA steps in after postgame moment

On Tuesday, the NBA announced it had fined Jalen Green $25,000 for using profanity during a live television broadcast. The incident occurred after the final buzzer when Green briefly interrupted teammate Collin Gillespie’s on-court interview while celebrating the win.

The league confirmed the decision in a statement issued by NBA Basketball Operations, signed by Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations James Jones. The ruling follows long-standing NBA broadcast guidelines.

The timing is notable. Green remains sidelined with a right hamstring strain that has disrupted his early season. After missing the first eight games, he returned with an impressive 29-point performance against the Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 6, only to aggravate the injury again in his next outing. According to the Suns, the 23-year-old is expected to miss another three to four weeks.

Even without one of their most explosive guards, Phoenix keeps moving forward. Led by Devin Booker, the Suns now hold the seventh-best record in the Western Conference and are trending upward as the season approaches its midpoint.

The road trip continues with a New Year’s Eve matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers, followed by a return home to face the Sacramento Kings. The message from Phoenix is clear. Wins matter most, distractions get handled quickly, and the focus stays on climbing the standings.
