Will we ever see Jake Paul face Conor McGregor on the canvas? If all goes as the Ambani family wishes, this possibility could be closer than it seems. One of the heirs of Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani will not rest until he sees these two settle their differences in the ring.
Paul and McGregor’s feud has been brewing for several years. During this time, both fighters have exchanged insults and taunts through social media without anything coming to fruition, despite both saying time and again that they are more than willing to take their online feud into real life.
The possibility seemed to disappear when McGregor agreed to face Jake’s older brother, Logan. However, recent revelations in the press have rekindled hope among boxing fans.
The Ambanis want Jake, not Logan
According to MMA reporter Ariel Helwani, when one of the sons of Mukesh Ambani, the world’s ninth richest man, saw the success of the November fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, he immediately wanted to do something similar.
According to Helwani, Ambani’s son said, “I want something like this. I want to do something like this. I want something big. They’re doing it in Saudi Arabia, they’re doing it all over the place. I want something in India.”
The journalist said that the idea was always to pit Jake against McGregor. “We want Jake Paul. We want to be in the Jake Paul business. We want a Jake Paul fight here in India,” the billionaire’s son reportedly said. The plans didn’t exactly go the way he would have hoped, but it doesn’t seem like he’s going to back off either.
It’s all in Dana White’s hands
When rumors of a McGregor-Logan fight began to surface, Jake reiterated what he had said before, that he would only fight McGregor if there were a deal with Dana White’s UFC. White, however, has said he will make the two fights remaining on Connor’s UFC contract count.
This stance seems to eliminate almost any possibility of a boxing match between Paul and McGregor. However, Helwani speculated that the Ambani fortune, valued at $124 billion, could convince White to give in and endorse one of the biggest fights of the year.
