Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua: Official scorecards reveal the harsh reality of the fight

Jake Paul is struggling to accept reality. Despite suffering a brutal knockout against Anthony Joshua a week ago, the “Problem Child” insists he dominated the early rounds. With the release of the official scorecards, however, that claim appears unfounded.

The December 19 bout showcased the true gap between the influencer-turned-boxer and the former heavyweight champion. While Joshua took a moment to find his rhythm in the opening rounds, the outcome was decisive.

Paul argued, “Actually, I won two rounds, then he won two, then I got dropped.” In an interview on his brother Logan’s podcast Impaulsive, he added, “Yeah, I was doing good.” But the judges saw a very different fight.

Joshua dominated on the scorecards

The Florida Athletic Commission (FAC), which sanctioned the fight, released the official scorecards to MMA Fighting. The results leave little room for Paul’s narrative.

All three judges-David Sutherland, Steve Weisfeld, and Michael Tate-scored every round in Joshua’s favor. Although Paul stayed competitive early, he failed to secure a single round.

  • Rounds 1-4: Unanimous 10-9 for Joshua
  • Round 5: Unanimous 10-7 for Joshua after multiple knockdowns
  • Round 6: Unanimous 10-7, capped by a knockout at 1:31

Paul still facing the consequences

Immediately after the fight, Paul admitted Joshua’s final punches left him with a double jaw fracture requiring surgery. Doctors removed several teeth and implanted two titanium plates to repair the damage.

Despite the severity of the injury, Paul is already eyeing a return to the ring. His first choice was former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, who declined the offer. Paul now continues his search for a new opponent to revive his boxing career.
