Conor McGregor remains in the media spotlight and American boxer Jake Paul, another of the most striking figures in the world, made sure of it. It was through a statement that the former YouTuber brought to light the (supposed) real reason why the Irishman avoids a face-to-face fight with him. So fans of the former UFC fighter and the American pugilist would be left wanting to see them in the ring.
Paul has greatly improved his boxing skills. The American’s last fight was against Mexican Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., at the end of last June. The judges had no problem giving the victory to ‘Gallo Dorado’ Paul (99-91, 98-92 and 97-93), who during almost the entire fight was better, but not so much because he was superior in qualities, but because he had a timid opponent in front of him who refused to attack.

Unlike Paul, McGregor’s activity in combat sports has slowed significantly since his last fight in 2021. This contrast has further fueled Paul’s confidence and reinforced his view that a clash is unlikely. The former American content creator believes the UFC star is aware of the risks. “I doubt it, because I just don’t think he’ll take that risk.”

And he continued: “He knows I’m a better puncher and boxer than him,” Paul said, speaking to reporters in Miami. McGregor, 37, has not competed since his July 2021 loss to Dustin Poirier. An expected return against Michael Chandler last year was derailed by injury, and multiple missed drug tests in 2024 resulted in an 18-month suspension, delaying his UFC return until 2026.
Gervonta Davis’ possible trial causes Jake Paul to seek substitute for fight
Jake Paul and his team are exploring potential substitute opponents for the November 14 event amid the possible civil trial of Gervonta Davis, the American boxer against whom he would fight on that date. Davis has not fought since a draw against Lamont Roach Jr. in March. It was widely expected that a rematch would take place later this year before Davis opted to pursue Paul instead of running with Roach.
On October 27, Davis allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend and threatened to “strangle and kill her”. A civil lawsuit was filed on Friday after the victim chose to seek damages rather than prosecute Davis. It is worth remembering that Davis was detained in July after a separate incident with one of his ex-girlfriends in Miami Beach; he was arrested on a charge of assault.
