There was a clear goal in mind when Jake Paul decided to embark on a surprising boxing career: disrupt the industry. All in all, he’s managed to do that. His latest fight against Mike Tyson, which was controversial and has been universally panned, ended up raking in tons of money for everyone involved. At the end of the day, that’s what Paul truly wants.
But he does love the sport, at least it seems he does. He’s frequently training, aiming to get better with every bout. He’s stepped into the ring with dangerous boxers like Tommy Fury. And outside of the ring, he’s made an impact on women’s boxing with his company, Most Valuable Promotions. Recently, MVP signed a lifetime deal with longtime partner Amanda Serrano.
Together, MVP and Serrano have helped put women’s boxing on the map, with the boxer’s iconic pair of fights against Katie Taylor catapulting the sport into another stratosphere. Paul has seen what his partnership with Serrano has accomplished, and he wants more.
Who is Alycia Baumgardner, Most Valuable Promotions’ newest signing?
So on Tuesday, MVP announced that Alycia Baumgardner has joined the promotion company. Baumgardner was a force in the sport in her late 20s, with a stunning TKO win over Terri Harper in England beginning her rise to stardom. She then dispatched Mikaela Mayer in 2022 and became undisputed by beating Elhem Mekhaled in her next fight.
But after her first titles defense, Baumgardner was revealed to have tested positive for a banned substance. Ultimately, after several months, Baumgardner was found innocent and saw her suspension lifted, but it did some damage to her image.
She finally fought again in September of last year, a bout against Delfine Persoon that was deemed a No Contest due to a cut on Persoon’s eye. Paul and Baumgardner will be hoping to secure a big fight for “The Bomb” sooner than later.
