Jake Paul is ruled out against Gervonta Davis but respect is demanded for him: “Let’s forget that he’s a YouTuber”

The boxing world is once again excited about a new big event, the exhibition showdown between Jake Paul and world champion Gervonta Davis. While the fight will not alter official records, the hype surrounding it is undeniable. The main narrative centers on the disparity in size and experience, with most experts doubting Paul’s ability to even hurt a fighter of Davis’ caliber.

Davis, the heavy favourite

The skepticism about Paul’s chances is based on opinions from people close to his circle, such as DeAndre Savage, his former training partner, who spoke about the fight on Fight Hype alongside Ron Goodall.

“I don’t think Jake can hurt Gervonta. Gervonta is too clever. You know what I’m saying? Size is going to be a very, very big factor in this fight. But ‘Tank’ has too much experience,” explained Savage.

Respect for Jake Paul

Despite his doubts about the outcome, Savage and others in the boxing industry are full of praise for Paul. The heavyweight describes him as “a great businessman” and one of boxing’s greatest marketers, putting him on a par with legend Floyd Mayweather.

This duality sums up the view of many: although Paul is not yet seen as a champion, his impact on the sport is undeniable, with record-breaking fights and a power of attraction that has forced major promoters to rethink the business model.

A past that condemns him

Perhaps the strongest argument in favor of Jake Paul comes from fighter Darren Till, who calls for the “YouTuber” label to be scrapped altogether. In an interview, Till bluntly stated that Paul “is a legitimate boxer” who has dedicated the last five years of his life to training, living and breathing like a professional.

“Let’s forget that he’s a YouTuber,” said Till, explaining that Paul has earned his place through hard training and a unique ability to ignite fights.
