In an attempt to generate excitement for their upcoming exhibition bout on November 14, Jake confronted Davis directly, accusing him of not cooperating with the promotion of the event.
It takes two boxers to sell a fight
The tension reached its peak when Paul, visibly exasperated, apologized to the audience for his rival’s behavior. “You’re boring as shit. My whole family was texting me. I want to apologize to the audience for this guy,” Paul said.
The statement seemed to have an effect, as Davis responded with a threat: “I’ll really kick your ass. You just play”, to which Paul replied: “That’s what we want, entertainment”.
A fight that seeks audience records
According to Paul, Davis’ lack of charisma is forcing him to do all the promotion himself. Despite this, he is confident that their fight will surpass the costly bout between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, which attracted 41.4 million viewers.
“Tank needs to take acting classes to develop a ‘gimmick’ that he can use to help promote this fight and his future fights,” Paul said, suggesting that Davis lacks the necessary spark for the show.
Davis himself, meanwhile, simply said: “I want to put on a great show on November 14 and show him what I’m made of,” without going into further detail about his plans.
