What once seemed like an impossibility has turned into reality: It’s fight week for Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. When the fight was announced earlier this year, it was met with widespread backlash. After a postponement over the summer due to a health issue for Tyson, fans began wondering if the fight would ever even happen. But the bout is nearing and both boxers are raring to go.
No one is really sure what to expect in this fight. Tyson is 58 years old, but he has looked sharp and in shape during training, and he’s still extremely dangerous as a puncher. Paul has been training for several years and has improved, but he’s still not an above-average boxer in purists’ eyes. What he’s not short of is confidence, though.
Paul has been adamant he will end up putting Tyson to sleep, which would be both a shock to some and an inevitability to others given Tyson’s age. Could that confidence come back to bite him? Very possibly.

In fact, it kind of seems like Paul is overlooking or underestimating Iron Mike. During a recent interview, Paul already had his sights set on fighting Canelo Alvarez for the “cruiserweight championship of the world” if he knocks out Tyson.
Paul says Alvarez would want to take advantage of a big payday by fighting Paul before his career winds down. Alvarez hasn’t had any issues racking up money from his own fights, so that likely won’t even be a factor in the Mexican’s mind.
Canelo isn’t scared of anyone, but there is a major weight difference between Alvarez and Paul that would make the fight unlikely. Alvarez’s top weight for a fight has been 175 pounds, while Paul is fighting around 225 pounds against Tyson.
