Iron Mike Tyson hinted he regretted fighting Jake Paul the morning after their November 15 clash as he says he “doesn’t know what the hell goes on” inside his mind sometimes, as well as saying he doesn’t remember much of the fight.
The former-undisputed heavyweight champion of the world returned to the ring after almost 20 years away from the professional side of the sport to take on The Problem Child, but was defeated via unanimous decision.
He seemed unable to keep pace with the far younger man through eight rounds and appeared to bring what fans feared to life, that the bout would turn into a bit of a farce and an embarrassment for the 58-year-old.
And whilst he said he doesn’t remember anything from the night, he said he felt enough to question why he stepped back into the ring despite earning an incredible 20 million dollars for his time.
“You know the day after the fight,” Tyson told FOX Sports Radio. “Right after the day after I woke up, I told my wife why did I do that? I just don’t know what the hell goes on.
Tyson later added, “My body was really sore. My chest, my stomach and stuff was really sore.”
But he did also say he had the support of his family, however, through his partner Lakiha ‘Kiki’ Spicer and their two children, as well as his four other children from other relationships and marriages.
Tyson tips Jones to hurt Paul
Roy Jones Jr. has come out after the bout and said that he wants to take on Paul to test his chin, but the problem is that Jones is 55 years old and thus isn’t much younger than Iron Mike so could he struggle with the same pacing issues?
Tyson doesn’t think so but warns the ex-middleweight champion, who he fought in 2020 during lockdown, to make sure he’s training hard and preparing if the fight with the YouTuber is ever actually made.
“He’s fast enough,” Tyson said of Jones Jr. “If Roy trains then Roy could still do a lot of stuff, he’s got to be training though.
“He has to be training. Jake punches hard. My body hurt so bad.”
