Jake Paul mocked Conor McGregor by saying he ‘needs’ the Paul brothers to stay relevant in 2024 as The Problem Child laughs at his recent fighting form following news they are preparing for a showdown in India.
The 27-year-old and Irishman are not on friendly terms and have regularly traded insults through the media and online over the years, but now it seems they’re finally ready to back up their opinions with punches.
They are now tipped for a showdown in the Asian subcontinent but Paul has made one key demand of the 36-year-old MMA star, and that’s for the UFC CEO to be included in negotiations after Dana White revealed McGregor is due to fight in 2025.
“Now it all makes sense,” Jake Paul posted to X.com, formerly Twitter. “Why Conor Mcgregor & his management team have been desperately trying to get MVP to negotiate for a fight between us.
“As we told them them privately & I’m now saying it publicly…the only way we’re willing to explore me vs Conor in a pro boxing / mma fight is if Dana White / UFC are at the table.
“Directly or make it clear they are ok with discussions. Conor is washed. Needs the Pauls. Logan by however he wants.”
When could the fight happen?
After five years of campaigning, it seems as though Paul could get his dream match against the former lightweight champion, who fought and lost to Floyd Mayweather in 2017 professional boxing contest.
McGregor would be Paul‘s second or third toughest opponent, or even his toughest, alongside Mike Tyson and Tommy Fury, the latter handing him his only professional defeat when they met in early 2023.
But when could a fight between McGregor and Paul actually happen? According to ESPN’s Salvador Rodriguez, it could take place as soon as the summer of 2025.
“Sources: Jake Paul vs Conor McGregor on the table,” Salvador wrote to X.com. “For July, August or September 2025 in India.”
