It’s not just Caitlin Clark, another Fever’s absence could hand Angel Reese her revenge in historic showdown

The stage is set for one of the biggest WNBA regular-season games of the year, but the Indiana Fever might be missing two of their most vital players-on and off the court.

Superstar rookie Caitlin Clark has been ruled out of Saturday’s much-hyped rematch against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky due to a left quad strain, leaving fans stunned. But that’s not all: head coach Stephanie White is also absent due to personal reasons and will not travel with the team to Chicago, according to IndyStar reporter Chloe Peterson.

That means assistant coach Austin Kelly could be leading the Fever into what’s now become an even more dramatic showdown, as the young squad tries to hold its ground without their leader and their biggest star.

Reese is eager for revenge

Just weeks ago, Clark and Reese clashed in a fiery opener filled with flagrant fouls, technicals, and bruises, with the Fever humiliating the Sky in a 35-point rout. But with Indiana hobbled, this could be Reese’s moment of redemption-and on one of the WNBA’s biggest stages yet.

Saturday’s game is historic for several reasons. It marks the Sky’s first-ever game at the iconic United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and a landmark in basketball lore. Even more, it’s the team’s 20th anniversary celebration, and the matchup will air live on CBS in primetime, making it the first WNBA regular-season game to do so.

Fever has everything against it

While Angel Reese and the 2-4 Sky are desperate to even the score, Clark’s absence is bittersweet. She won’t get the chance to play in what could have been a defining moment in her sophomore season, in front of a nationwide audience, in a rivalry that’s already sparked headlines.

Indiana may have dominated the first meeting, but with their coach and cornerstone sidelined, all eyes are on whether they can survive the rematch-or whether this is Angel Reese’s revenge game in the making. One thing’s certain: this Fever-Sky saga is far from over.
