Isiah Pacheco returns to Chiefs practice after knee injury. Will he play Sunday vs. Colts?

Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco returned to full practice on Wednesday after missing the previous two weeks due to a knee injury.

Pacheco‘s participation is a positive development as the Chiefs prepare for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

If he maintains his current level of involvement throughout the week, it is likely he will be available to play.

Pacheco‘s absence had created a gap in the Chiefs‘ backfield, where his combination of rushing and receiving ability is considered an integral part of the team’s offensive scheme. The coaching staff will continue to monitor his performance in practice over the coming days to determine his readiness for game action.

While Pacheco returned to full participation, the Chiefs remain without two players. Left guard Kingsley Suamateia, recovering from a concussion, and wide receiver Xavier Worthy, sidelined with an ankle injury, did not participate in Wednesday’s session.

The team will evaluate both players’ progress over the course of the week to determine their potential availability for Sunday’s game.

Other injury updates and roster status

Several other players were able to practice fully despite dealing with recent injuries. Linebacker Jeffrey Bassa (shoulder), safety Jaden Hicks (shoulder), defensive end George Karlaftis (thumb), defensive end Charles Omenihu (ankle), right guard Trey Smith (back), and right tackle Jawaan Taylor (knee and ankle) all participated without restrictions.

Their return to full practice helps the Chiefs maintain stability on both sides of the ball.

The Chiefs‘ coaching staff has emphasized player health management throughout the week, carefully monitoring those recovering from injuries to prevent setbacks. Pacheco‘s return is particularly notable, as his presence adds versatility to the offense and supports a more balanced approach for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

As the team prepares to face the Colts, maintaining a healthy roster is critical. The Chiefs will continue to monitor the condition of Suamateia, Worthy, and other players listed as limited or inactive, with updated practice reports expected throughout the week.

Decisions regarding the active roster and game-day availability will be made with an emphasis on player safety and team performance.

Pacheco‘s full participation represents a significant step in his recovery. If he continues to practice without limitations, the Chiefs are likely to have him available for Sunday’s matchup, restoring depth to the backfield and providing additional offensive options.

The coaching staff remains cautiously optimistic, closely assessing all injured players while preparing for a divisional game that could have implications for playoff positioning.
