Isaiah Bond signs with Cleveland Browns after legal clearance

Isaiah Bond, the speedy undrafted wide receiver, is headed to the NFL after clearing a major legal hurdle and securing a significant contract.

A Collin County grand jury recently “no-billed” the sexual assault charge against him – meaning no indictment will be issued – and that cleared the path for a commitment from the Cleveland Browns.

Bond had been projected as a Day 2 draft pick, but the eyebrow-raising allegations in April derailed his prospects, leaving him undrafted in 2025 despite a standout college career.

He turned himself in on April 10, posting $25,000 bail, and firmly denied the claims as “patently false.”

He also filed a defamation lawsuit over the matter, but that action was dismissed with prejudice in July – adding legal closure to his ordeal.

Despite the legal cloud, Bond’s talent shone through in his college tape. He totaled 34 receptions for 540 yards and five touchdowns in his lone season with Texas – adding to his productive two years at Alabama – for a combined 99 catches, 1,428 yards, and 10 touchdowns.

His speed – clocking a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the combine – made him one of the most explosive offensive prospects in the draft.

Browns making bold move

The Browns moved swiftly once charges were dropped. Isaiah Bond signed a fully guaranteed three-year deal worth approximately $3.018 million.

That extraordinary guarantee for an undrafted free agent – it dwarfs the typical sums for players in that class – signals that Cleveland sees genuine upside in Bond’s potential.

General Manager Andrew Berry emphasized that the organization conducted “extensive due diligence” – including independent polygraph tests and testimony from both sides – before committing to Bond.

They also referenced his known relationship with offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, who coached Bond at Alabama.

At just 21 years old and now officially part of the Browns roster, Bond is poised to seize his NFL opportunity – his hiring representing both personal redemption and a strategic investment in speed and playmaking at receiver.
