Is Brandon Aiyuk on Dallas’ radar? The trade that could make Dak Prescott happy

Brandon Aiyuk may be on his way out of San Francisco. Despite signing a lucrative contract extension just two years ago, rumors have been swirling for weeks that the star receiver could not only leave the Bay Area but also land in Arlington, Texas.

Tensions between Aiyuk and the Niners have been brewing for some time. The situation escalated to the point where Aiyuk requested a trade after the 2023 season. Eventually, the dispute was settled with a four-year, $120 million extension, including $76 million guaranteed.

Still, in early March, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport revealed that San Francisco is open to trading Aiyuk. Furthermore, following the Niners’ roster cuts-including the departure of Deebo Samuel-some analysts speculate that the Dallas Cowboys might be interested in acquiring the star receiver.

The Cowboys could be the perfect fit for Aiyuk

According to Alex Hoegler of Total Pro Sports, Dallas “should go all-in and try to land the Pro Bowl receiver.” With the recent acquisition of George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cowboys’ offense could form a formidable trio with Aiyuk and star receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Hoegler acknowledged that heavily investing in two additional receivers besides Lamb could pose challenges. However, he also emphasized that such a move could turn the Cowboys into legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

The analyst pointed out that other teams have successfully built around star receiver duos-such as the Bengals with Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, the Eagles with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, and the Dolphins with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Dallas could take this formula even further with Pickens, Lamb, and Aiyuk.

How could Dallas close the deal?

Landing Aiyuk wouldn’t come cheap. The Cowboys would likely have to give up first- and fourth-round picks in 2026. However, since the 49ers were expected to pay Aiyuk $47 million of his guaranteed contract extension before April 1, Dallas’ salary cap impact would be significantly reduced.

At this point, it’s all speculation. However, the potential trade remains intriguing-especially since Aiyuk could be the missing piece that finally pushes the Dallas Cowboys toward a Super Bowl. Whether Jerry Jones’ team is willing to make the move remains to be seen.
