Inside Randi Mahomes’s new project: The advice that helped Patrick reach NFL stardom

Patrick Mahomes had already hoisted the Lombardi three times before he stepped onto the field forSuper Bowl 59. But behind every trophy and touchdown is someone who helped shape the mindset-and for Mahomes, that someone is his mom, Randi.

Long before he became the face of the NFL, Randi Mahomes was a single mother navigating the highs and lows of raising a competitive athlete. These days, she’s channeling those years into something bigger than football: a platform to help other sports parents support their kids through the pressure and the passion of competitive athletics.

At her Ultimate Sports Parent Brunch during the NFL Draft, Randi shared a piece of advice she’s repeated to Patrick for years-words she reminded him of before the Chiefs’ loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl 59.

“Go out there and have fun,” she posted on Instagram. “Don’t overthink it. Just do what you love and what you know best.”

Simple, but powerful. That kind of grounded encouragement is what Randi says keeps her son level-headed in the biggest moments-whether he’s walking into Arrowhead or the Super Bowl tunnel.

More than mom: Randi’s advice is now a movement

She’s not doing it alone. Randi’s longtime friend and colleague, psychologist Dr. Elizabeth Lombardo, is a key voice in her new venture: Sports Parent Academy. Together, they’re building a digital resource for parents navigating youth and elite sports.

“When I need backup, I turn to Dr. Lombardo,”Randi said in her post. The two now collaborate on the course, which offers parents practical tools and mental strategies to stay strong-both for themselves and their kids.

Though the Chiefs couldn’t repeat in Super Bowl 59, Patrick’s leadership was still on display. He’s already back in training mode for 2025, which speaks to the long game Randi’s been coaching him through for years.

And she’s not stopping there.

On April 15, Randi officially launched the Sports Parent Academy after nearly a year of development and stepping away from her 20-year role at Hollytree Country Club. With early enrollment now open and a 20% discount for presale buyers, she’s inviting other parents to learn from her journey-on and off the field.

“This isn’t just a course. It’s my story, my experience,”Randi said.“If it can help one parent feel more confident, it’s worth it.”

Patrick himself gave the project a shoutout online, writing, “After months of praying, planning, and putting my heart into this… Sports Parent Academy is coming to life.”

And if his career is any indication, the mindset behind it is already championship material.
