Caitlin Clark may be off the court, but her impact is being felt.
As the Indiana Fever cruised into the playoffs against the Minnesota Lynx, the 23-year-old star stole the show at Gainbridge Fieldhouse with an extroverted gesture.
The fans’ reaction
Prior to this game, Minnesota had already broken through and qualified for the Playoffs as the top team in the WNBA standings, sitting in first place with a 33-9 record, even with Napheesa Collier‘s ankle injury.
Indiana did not have it so easy. It had to announce the loss of five of its players: Caitlin, Aari McDonald, Sophie Cunningham, Chloe Bibby and Sydney Colson.
During the last game of the Fever‘s schedule, the first minutes of the game were already in full swing as Odyssey Sims was responsible for giving the team an early 10-0 lead.
Faced with this situation, Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve decided to call a timeout. Upon noticing this, Clark imitated the coach’s gesture to mock the Lynx bench, something that aroused the reaction of the fans:
“Old habits die hard… she thought she was still at Iowa haha” commented one of them.
“Caitlin Clark giving the Lynx a timeout like a true coach, even from the sidelines. Guess the players need to thank her for that strategy #CoachClark,” responded another follower.
“Caitlin Clark became 2025 every WNBA team Coach of the year!” asserted a third.
Despite this, Cheryl was unable to stop the momentum of the Fever, who at halftime, built a 49-36 lead and finished the game 83-72.
Meanwhile, the Fever are waiting to see who they will play in the Playoffs, scheduled for September 14. Las Vegas Aces, Atlanta Dream or Phoenix Mercury could be their next opponent.
