Incidents in the NFL: Sex toys interrupt games during the 2025 season

Terrible-the behavior of some fans at sporting events has crossed a troubling line in 2025. What began as an isolated incident has turned into a trend affecting both the NFL and the WNBA: the throwing of inappropriate objects onto the playing field.

During the first week of the NFL regular season, at least two cases were reported in which these sex objects were thrown from the stands, temporarily interrupting the progress of the games. Although some fans expected this behavior to stop after the first arrests, the facts suggest otherwise.

Background in the WNBA

The first documented case occurred in July 2025, during the final quarter of the game between the Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Dream. Since then, several WNBA games have been interrupted by the same type of incidents, forcing referees to remove the objects from the court and, in some cases, stop play.

Authorities have responded with legal measures, including the arrest of several individuals for disturbing order at sporting events. However, the trend has continued, sparking debate over stadium security and respect for athletes.

The NFL is also affected

The NFL was unable to avoid this behavior even during the preseason. In August 2025, during a game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Tennessee Titans, a thrown object was reported from the stands. Although this was not the first case in league history-similar incidents were recorded in 2016 and 2017 during Buffalo Bills games-the recurrence in 2025 has raised red flags.

In the first week of the regular season, two games were interrupted by this type of act. The first took place in the matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns, where the object was thrown from the section known as the Dawg Pound. The second incident occurred in the game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Miami Dolphins, where the object landed in the end zone.

NFL and WNBA tighten protocols

Sports leagues have begun strengthening their security and surveillance protocols in stadiums. In addition, communication with fans has intensified to promote respectful and responsible behavior.

While some consider these acts tasteless pranks, most sports fans reject them outright, pointing out that they undermine the integrity of the game and put players and officials at risk.
