Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs finally ended weeks of speculation regarding the unusual injury that kept him off the field for more than two months during the 2025 NFL season.

In an interview with reporters, Diggs revealed that the concussion that sidelined him was the result of a freak accident at home while attempting to install a television.

The former Pro Bowl defender explained that a ceiling-mounted TV, attached via a pole mount, unexpectedly came loose and struck him on the head.

“I was trying to be a handyman,” Diggs admitted, noting that he initially considered the impact minor. However, the fall triggered concussion symptoms that were severe enough to place him on injured reserve for much of the season.

His revelation came after the Cowboys’ Week 16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, in which Diggs made his return and recorded six tackles. The defeat, dropping the team to a 6-8-1 record, intensified scrutiny over Diggs‘ availability and raised questions about the unusual circumstances of his injury.

Reaction and rumors

Diggs‘ admission quickly became a hot topic on social media, drawing both disbelief and humor from fans and analysts alike. Some questioned why the details of the injury were not disclosed earlier, while others joked about the rare combination of athletic skill and DIY mishaps.

This unusual scenario fueled speculation about whether other factors might have contributed to his prolonged absence.

Former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho publicly criticized Diggs‘ handling of the situation, suggesting that professional athletes should prioritize their health and avoid risky home projects.

“If I can be real, I blame Trevon Diggs. I blame Trevon Diggs, like your pass defense is that bad, but you are one of the best defensive backs in all of football by paper. You are one of the most talented when the ball is in the air, and you are not even present,” said Acho.

“Then to hear the report that he got a concussion because he was installing a TV and it fell on his head. I also blame you for being dumb.”

The public reaction highlighted Diggs‘ already challenging 2025 campaign. Beyond the concussion, he dealt with lingering knee problems, including multiple surgeries on his left knee since 2023, creating uncertainty about his long-term durability.

With the Cowboys now out of playoff contention, Diggs faces questions about his future with the franchise. He acknowledged that this season could mark his final home games in Dallas, as team dynamics and contract considerations come into play.

Fans and analysts alike are left wondering how the Cowboys will approach his role in 2026, balancing his talent with his injury history.
